1000 Toys ❌ Hatsune Miku ❌ Frederator

One of my first opportunities to design a toy came in the Spring/Summer of 2016. Partnering with Frederator, I worked with Japanese toy company 1000 Toys and Crypton Future Media to create a special edition toy for their Mechatro Wego line featuring Crypton’s character Hatsune Miku. 

The goal was to create a Hatsune Miku design in the style of Adventure Time, to be the “pilot” of a custom WeGo robot variant that was already in-process. The toy would be limited edition and brought exclusively on the summer convention circuit. 

I first created a character design and rough sizing specs, along with a color plan. After the specs was fully approved, I got to work on the promotional illustrations, which were taken and used in print and online marketing. It was also used to create the packaging for the toy itself. See images below of final photography and process work.
