‘Borne’ Illustration

This illustration won the grand prize in a fan-art contest hosted by FSG Work in Progress and MCD Books. The contest celebrated the release of Jeff Vandermeer's novel, Borne, and called artists to depict a 2D rendering of the titular creature from the book.

After the selection, I was contacted by Jeff Vandermeer - he liked the illustration so much that he wanted to include the image in an updated edition of his creative fiction guide: Wonderbook. Below are images of the book itself and the illustration’s feature.
